One Heart at a time
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), a Christ-centered, Bible-based ministry, was an idea born by FCA founder Don McClanen’s heart in 1947 when he was a college student. Later, as a college coach, he envisioned athletes and coaches presenting Christ throughout their schools and the nation. McCleanen’s vision officallly became FCA in November 1954. Today, FCA is touching millions of lives…one heart at a time. FCA has been challenging coaches, athletes, teachers, students and volunteers on the college, high school and junior high levels to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is the largest Christian sports ministry in the world. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.
Facing the Giants / Give Me Your Best!
FCA in Pueblo, Colorado
During the 1960’s Coach Bill Brown of South High School started FCA in Pueblo. Under his leadership, FCA thrived and touched all those involved. In 1982, Danny DeRose became the Pueblo FCA Director. Thanks to Danny’s leadership, FCA grew rapidly and soon every high school and middle school had an FCA Huddle. After Danny, Kirk Kochenberger became the Pueblo Director and for fifteen years he served FCA with dedication and love for our kids. Jake Kochenberger took the wheel as Pueblo Director and FCA continued to grow and impact our schools. Currently, I am the FCA Director in Pueblo, and I feel humbled to be following in the footsteps of these four giants in our community. I pledge I will serve with the passion for FCA that has been passed on to me by Coach Brown, Danny DeRose, Kirk Kochenberger and Jake Kochenberger.
